Invisalign: A Beautiful Smile Without the Metal Braces

Crooked, misaligned teeth aren’t just a cosmetic problem.

They may be harder to keep clean, meaning a higher risk of decay and gum disease. They may be more prone to breakage due to imbalanced biting pressure. They can contribute to speech problems, chronic headaches, and other upper body pain.

So what often begins as a cosmetic concern can actually support better mouth/body health. For many, Invisalign is the perfect means of achieving a more attractive, healthier smile.

“A mind once stretched by a new idea can never return to its original dimensions.”

Why Choose Invisalign?

Invisalign is a system for gently moving teeth into better alignment. Custom-designed, invisible, removable aligners do the work of conventional braces without the metal. Biocompatible and virtually invisible, Invisalign can help you get the naturally attractive smile you seek.

They’re far more comfortable than conventional braces, too! No poking wires or broken brackets involved – and no risk of oral galvanism if there are metal restorations in the mouth.

Invisalign can be used to treat a wide variety of cases, including overcrowding, gap teeth, overbite, underbite, or just general straightening.

It’s an especially good choice for adults who want a better looking smile without having to sport a “brace face” to achieve it. Strong yet thin and lightweight, these aligners are indetectable, eliminating the self-consciousness that can come from wearing conventional braces.

Meantime, you can brush and floss without hassle and eat what you want without fear of food catching on or between brackets.

How Does Invisalign Work?

The first step is to have Dr. Bloss evaluate your current dental situation to determine whether Invisalign is the right option for you.

If it is, she’ll then use photos, a panoramic x-ray, and digital impressions to create a treatment plan that ensures that every tooth moves in the right way, in the right order, at the right time. Special software also allows you to preview your smile makeover before making any commitment.

Once you’ve approved your treatment plan, Dr. Bloss will collaborate with Invisalign technicians to determine the tooth movements needed so they can custom-design your series of removable aligners, crafted for optimum fit and appearance.

How Long Does Invisalign Take?

Most cases take about 12 to 18 months to complete, though especially complex cases can take longer.
Once you receive your first aligners, you’ll switch to a new set about every two weeks. With each new aligner, your teeth will straighten – little by little, week by week – and your bite will become more balanced.
For best and most efficient results, you’ll be expected to wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours each day, removing them only for cleaning (your teeth, as well as your aligners).

Every six weeks, we’ll have you in for a visit so Dr. Bloss can make sure you’re getting optimum benefit from your aligners and adjust your treatment plan if necessary.

And once your smile makeover is complete, we’ll continue to work with you to help you maintain – and enjoy! – your attractive, healthy smile through the years ahead.
